Nonstop from Miami (~2h), Houston (~2.5h) and Dallas (~3h). Leave in the morning and arrive at the beach the same day.

Vacation + Dental Work in One Trip

Combine your dental work in Cancun with a Caribbean vacation. Your recovery is a beach holiday, not a hospital stay.

Hotel Zone & Beachfront Recovery

Specialized Implant Center — 98.2% Success

An implant-only clinic with IV sedation, guided surgery and hospital-grade sterilization. Same protocols as the USA.

Your Dental Tourism Trip to Cancun, Step by Step

Day 1 — Evaluation & Free CBCT

Arrive, check in at Fiesta Inn Cumbres and have your full evaluation plus 3D CBCT scan with Dr. Omar Lugo. Your exact treatment plan is set before any surgery.

Day 2 — Surgery Under IV Sedation

Implant placement under IV sedation. You sleep through it — no pain, no anxiety. Extractions and bone grafting are included when needed.

Days 3–5 — Wax Rollers & Provisional

Wax rollers and provisional fitting shape your new bite as your teeth are built in our on-site lab.

Days 5–6 — Temporary Screw-Retained Teeth

You leave Cancun with fixed, screw-retained temporary teeth. You never go without teeth.

Healing at Home + Final Protocol

Heal for 4 months while your implants fuse to the bone, then return for the final restoration. Most patients turn the second trip into another vacation.

Before You Fly: Documents, Dates and What Actually Goes in the Bag

The part nobody explains until you are already packing.

Documents

US and Canadian passport holders travel to Mexico as tourists without a visa. Bring a passport valid for the whole of your stay — an expired or nearly expired one is the single most common reason a trip gets cancelled at the airport, and it is entirely avoidable.

  • A written list of every medication you take, with doses, and any drug allergies
  • Any panoramic X-ray or CBCT you already own, on a USB or in an email to your coordinator
  • Your itemised written plan — the same one your price is locked against for 12 months

Dates and the clock

Book the flight after you have the written plan, never before: the plan is what decides whether your trip is 6 business days or 10. Cancun stays on UTC-5 all year and does not change for daylight saving — the same clock as New York from November to March, and the same as Dallas, Houston and Chicago the rest of the year, so scheduling calls with home is simple.

  • If your flight lands at night, arrive the day before Day 1 rather than compressing the evaluation
  • Leave one buffer day at the end. Small bite adjustments after the temporary bridge is delivered are normal, not a complication
  • Book a changeable return fare if you can. You will almost certainly not need it, and it removes the pressure from days 5 and 6

What to pack that you would not think of

A shirt that buttons at the front for surgery day, so nothing has to come off over your head afterwards. Lip balm — a long session with your mouth open leaves lips dry and stretched, and it is the small discomfort patients mention most. Sunglasses and a hat, because swelling and midday sun are a bad combination. And a few soft foods you actually like: the hotel and the supermarket have yogurt, soup and eggs, but appetite during recovery is personal.

What you can leave at home

No plug adapter and no voltage converter: Mexico uses the same flat-pin outlets as the US and Canada. No cash for transport, because airport and clinic transfers are already in your package. No antibiotics or post-op medication, which are included and dispensed here. And no Spanish — your coordinator, the surgical team and the front desk work in English, all day, every day of your stay.

From the Gate at CUN to the Chair: Arrival Day, Hour by Hour

What the first day looks like when you have never done this before.

MomentWhat happensWhat you do
Landing at Cancun (CUN)Immigration and baggage. At peak arrival hours this is the slowest part of the whole trip.Nothing. Message your coordinator once you have your bag.
The arrivals hallYou will be approached by people offering transport, tours and timeshare presentations before you reach the exit.Keep walking. Your driver waits past the doors with your name — you never negotiate a ride.
Hotel check-inFiesta Inn Cumbres, 6 nights, two guests, a short walk from the clinic.Drop your bags. Your coordinator confirms the exact clinic time in person.
Day 1 at the clinicFull evaluation, intraoral scan, clinical photographs and the free CBCT 3D scan with Dr. Omar Lugo.Ask everything. This is the appointment where the plan becomes final.
Before you leave the clinicThe treatment plan, the number of implants and the price are confirmed in writing, in USD.Read it and sign it, or do not. Nothing is done until you do.
Day 1 eveningYour last normal meal before the soft-diet week, and the fasting window for sedation.Eat well, early. The team gives you the exact hours you must not eat or drink.

If something on Day 1 changes the plan

It happens. A CBCT sometimes shows less bone than a panoramic X-ray suggested, an unsuspected infection needs treating first, or a tooth that looked saveable is not. That is exactly why the scan happens on Day 1 and the surgery on Day 2, and not the other way around. If the plan changes, so does the written quote, and you decide before anything irreversible is done. Nobody wants a patient who found out in the chair.

Recovering in Cancun: What You Can Do, and What You Cannot

You are on a Caribbean coast a few days after oral surgery. Some of it is off the table, and it is better to know now.

The ocean and the pool wait

While the surgical sites are healing, sea water, pool chemicals and hot tubs are out — and so are snorkelling and diving for this trip. Your post-op instructions give the exact window. The reef does not go anywhere: patients routinely book the boat day for the second trip, four months later, when there is nothing to protect.

Sun, heat and swelling

Swelling typically peaks around 48 to 72 hours after surgery and then eases. Midday Caribbean heat makes it feel considerably worse. Walk the beach early or at sunset, stay in the shade in between, and drink more water than you think you need. A hat and sunglasses are not vanity that week.

Eating out on a soft diet

Soft food for the first days, no straws — suction is the thing to avoid — and no alcohol while you are on antibiotics. Cancun makes this easier than most cities: soups, eggs, fish and rice are everywhere. Skip acidic and very hot dishes early on. Smoking works against healing, and your surgeon will ask you to stop before and after surgery.

Book excursions for the right days

Days 1 and 2 are clinic days. Days 3 to 6 are try-in appointments — usually short and in the morning, but they are the reason you flew here, so nothing gets booked over them. Long bus trips to the ruins and full-day boat tours belong to your companion, or to the second trip. A quiet dinner by the lagoon is fine.

The honest version of recovery week

Some patients feel almost normal by day 3 and spend the rest of the week walking the Hotel Zone. Others are tired, bruised and want the room dark until day 4. Both are ordinary, and there is no way to know in advance which one you will be — so build the week around the appointments and treat everything else as a bonus. Expect certain sounds to be awkward until the provisional is adjusted; that settles as the bite is refined. Flying home is uneventful: keep your medication in the carry-on with the pharmacy labels on it, take the aisle seat, and drink water on the plane.

Your Companion's Week — and What Happens If You Travel Alone

The package covers two guests. Here is what the second person is actually for.

The days a companion matters

Day 2 above all. IV sedation means you will be drowsy for hours afterwards, you should not make decisions, drive or spend that night alone, and someone needs to walk you back to the hotel and keep an eye on you. Day 1 is the other one: a second set of ears in the appointment where the plan and the price are explained is worth more than most people expect.

The days they are free

The try-in appointments in the middle of the week are short. Those are their days, not yours: the ferry to Isla Mujeres, the Hotel Zone beaches, a day trip to the ruins. Six nights at Fiesta Inn Cumbres for two guests and the airport transfers are already included, so bringing them costs you the flight and nothing else.

If you travel alone

Plenty of patients do, and it works — but say so before you book, not on arrival. Your coordinator then accompanies you to and from the clinic on surgery day and checks on you at the hotel afterwards, and the schedule is arranged around that. It is a practical solution, not a formality. If you have the choice, surgery day is easier with someone you know in the room.

Insurance and money, said plainly

Most US and Canadian travel medical policies do not cover elective treatment abroad — a travel policy is still worth having for the flight, trip cancellation and anything unrelated that happens to you in Mexico, but do not buy it expecting it to pay for implants. Your dental insurance is a separate question: some plans reimburse part of an out-of-network claim against an itemised receipt, and the only way to find out is to send them your itemised written plan before you travel, while your price is locked for 12 months. Cards work everywhere you will go; keep some pesos for tips, and drink bottled water like every other visitor to the city.

Why patients choose us for dental tourism

Lower overhead, not lower standards. The difference is where the money goes, not what goes in your mouth.

A surgeon operates, not a general dentist

Dr. Omar Lugo is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon (D.D.S., M.S.) with 25+ years and 8,000+ American and Canadian patients. He plans your case on the CBCT, performs the surgery himself and signs off the prosthetics. Nothing is delegated.

The same implants as the USA

FDA-approved Nobel Biocare, Straumann and BioHorizons — the systems placed in American offices every day, with a lifetime warranty on the implant. No unbranded posts, no systems you cannot get serviced back home.

Our own zirconia lab, on site

Monolithic Prettau milled from a single block on five axes, with 2 to 3 try-ins. No outsourcing, no courier delays, no middleman markup — and a technician who can walk into the surgery and look at your bite in person.

A written price, locked

Your quote arrives in USD before you book a flight, itemised, with what you need and what you do not. It is locked for 12 months. No verbal estimate that changes when you are in the chair with your teeth already out.
