A dental vacation package vs. treating at home

Treating at home

  • Flights, hotel and meals on top of the bill
  • Sedation and 3D imaging billed separately
  • Same-brand implants at several times the cost
  • Recovery at home, with no vacation

Dental vacation packages — your questions answered

How much is All on 4 in Cancun, really?

At Allon4DentalCenter by Dr. Omar Lugo: COMPLETE ZIRCONIA (both arches, 2 trips) is $19,800 — First Trip Surgical $12,800 + Second Trip Restorative Zirconia $7,000. One Trip is $9,000 for one arch or $14,990 for both arches. Additional implant $900. All prices in USD, with hotel Fiesta Inn Cumbres 6 nights for 2 guests and transfers included. No hidden fees — your written quote before you travel.

Why is All-on-4 in Mexico so much more affordable?

Lower operating costs and our own on-site lab — NOT cheaper materials. We use the same FDA-approved Nobel Biocare, Straumann and BioHorizons implants, Navident guided surgery, and hospital-grade sterilization that US clinics use. 8,000+ Americans and Canadians have trusted us with their smiles.

Is Teeth in a Day included in the price?

Yes. A non-removable temporary screw-retained bridge is delivered on days 5–6 of your stay (wax rollers days 3–4, provisional try-in days 4–5). It is included in every surgical package. The final restoration comes after healing: hybrid in 10 business days for One Trip candidates, or permanent zirconia on the second trip at about 4 months.

Is the hotel really included? Which one?

Yes. Every full-mouth package includes 6 nights for 2 guests at Fiesta Inn Cumbres Cancún with airport transfers. The clinic is a short walk from the hotel. You can upgrade to a beachfront Hotel Zone stay if you prefer.

How long does the whole process take?

First trip: 6 business days — Day 1 evaluation and CBCT, Day 2 implant surgery under IV sedation, Days 3–4 wax rollers, Days 4–5 provisional try-in, Days 5–6 delivery of temporary screw-retained teeth. You fly home with fixed teeth. After 4 months of healing, the final restorative protocol is completed on a short second trip. One Trip candidates may receive the final hybrid in 10 business days.

Do I need a bone graft for All-on-4?

Most patients do NOT. The All-on-4 technique uses angled implants to maximize existing bone. If severe bone loss is present, Dr. Omar Lugo is a certified zygomatic implant surgeon — zygomatic implants anchor to the cheekbone ($4,500 per unit) with no graft needed.

Is it safe to get dental implants in Mexico?

Absolutely. Dr. Omar Lugo is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon (D.D.S., M.S.) with 25+ years of experience, member of IAOMS, ICOI, the Mexican Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and AOCMF. We use Nobel Biocare implants, Navident guided surgery, hospital-grade sterilization and IV sedation. 98.2% success rate across 8,000+ American and Canadian patients.

How long do the implants last?

Nobel Biocare implants carry a lifetime warranty and are designed to last 20–30 years or more with proper care. The prosthetic arch lasts 6–8 years (hybrid) or 12+ years (zirconia Prettau, which never stains and is our standard for final restorations).

How much does a full mouth cost in Mexico?

At Allon4DentalCenter: the COMPLETE ZIRCONIA (both arches, 2 trips, permanent zirconia) is $19,800 — First Trip Surgical $12,800 + Second Trip Restorative $7,000. One Trip is $14,990 for both arches or $9,000 for one arch. Additional implant $900. Transparent pricing always — your written quote is guaranteed for 12 months.

Why patients choose us for your implant vacation

Lower overhead, not lower standards. The difference is where the money goes, not what goes in your mouth.

A surgeon operates, not a general dentist

Dr. Omar Lugo is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon (D.D.S., M.S.) with 25+ years and 8,000+ American and Canadian patients. He plans your case on the CBCT, performs the surgery himself and signs off the prosthetics. Nothing is delegated.

The same implants as the USA

FDA-approved Nobel Biocare, Straumann and BioHorizons — the systems placed in American offices every day, with a lifetime warranty on the implant. No unbranded posts, no systems you cannot get serviced back home.

Our own zirconia lab, on site

Monolithic Prettau milled from a single block on five axes, with 2 to 3 try-ins. No outsourcing, no courier delays, no middleman markup — and a technician who can walk into the surgery and look at your bite in person.

A written price, locked

Your quote arrives in USD before you book a flight, itemised, with what you need and what you do not. It is locked for 12 months. No verbal estimate that changes when you are in the chair with your teeth already out.

Why Cancun for your implant vacation

Not just the price. The flight, the hotel, the recovery and the protocol.

2 to 4 hours, non-stop

Direct flights from Miami (~2h), Houston (~2.5h) and Dallas (~3h). You leave in the morning and you are at the clinic the same day — closer than driving across some US states for the same treatment.

Hotel and transfers included

Six nights at Fiesta Inn Cumbres for two guests, plus airport pickup and daily transport to the clinic. Your companion travels at no extra cost, and the clinic is a short walk away.

You recover on a beach

Post-surgical rest happens somewhere warm with good food and no work email, instead of at home juggling the school run. Patients consistently report it is the part they underestimated.

An implant-only centre

Not a general clinic that also does implants. IV sedation, Navident guided surgery, hospital-grade sterilisation and the Malo Clinic protocol — the same standards, in a city built for international patients.

What you can and cannot do after surgery

The part of a dental vacation nobody plans for. Plan for it.

Not during this trip

  • Swimming, snorkelling or diving: water and fresh surgical sites do not mix
  • Alcohol while on antibiotics, and smoking at all — it measurably raises failure
  • Long sun exposure, which worsens swelling
  • Cenotes, ruins and full-day excursions in the first 72 hours

The honest version: the first trip is a recovery trip with a beach outside the window. The excursions belong on the second visit, when there is no surgery.

What to bring, and what to leave

Six days, one surgery. The list is shorter than you think.

Your medical list

Current medications, doses, allergies, and any recent imaging you already have. Blood thinners and bisphosphonates in particular change the surgical plan and need to be known before you land, not on the day.

Soft food you actually like

The hotel and the local shops cover this, but the first two days are easier with something familiar. Patients consistently say this is the tip they wish they had been given.

A companion, if you can

Included in the package for two guests at no extra cost. Sedation means you cannot make decisions or travel alone on day two, and someone who can carry the bags and remember the instructions is worth more than the saving of travelling alone.

Not a packed itinerary

Book the flights, not the excursions. Appointment times shift by a day when a case needs an extra session, and a non-refundable tour on the wrong afternoon is an avoidable annoyance.

The questions about travelling for surgery

Asked in almost every first message.

Is it safe to fly after implant surgery?

Yes, and patients fly home on day six routinely. Cabin pressure does not affect implants. What matters is the sinus: upper implants near the sinus floor come with instructions about not blowing your nose and not using straws, which apply on the plane like anywhere else.

Does my insurance cover any of it?

US dental plans typically cap between $1,500 and $2,500 a year and rarely cover implants abroad. You can submit for reimbursement afterwards, but plan on the full amount. Travel insurance is separate and worth having — it covers the trip, not the dentistry.

What if something goes wrong at home?

First contact is remote: photos and a call, usually the same day. A loosened screw or a chipped temporary is often handled by a local dentist we coordinate with, under the warranty terms written into your quote. Nothing about the follow-up assumes you can fly back.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No. The coordinator, the surgeon and the clinical staff work in English, and the coordinator is the same person from your first message to your follow-up months later. Cancun is built around international visitors: the hotel, the airport and the taxis all operate in English.
