What moves a dental implant price up or down
Six variables. Every honest quote is these six applied to your scan.
How many arches
One arch or two is the single biggest lever. Two arches in the same surgical session cost far less than two separate treatments, because the sedation, the imaging, the theatre time and the trip are shared.
How many implants per arch
Four is the standard. Six adds support for a heavier bite or softer bone. Each implant beyond the included four is $900, quoted only when the scan shows it is indicated — never as an upsell at the chair.
What the bridge is made of
A reinforced acrylic hybrid and monolithic Prettau zirconia are not the same product and are not priced the same. Zirconia does not stain, does not absorb odour and has no metal substructure to chip away from.
How much bone you have
Most patients need no graft because angled implants reach the dense bone at the front of the jaw. Severe upper resorption is the exception: zygomatic implants anchored in the cheekbone are $4,500 per unit.
How many teeth come out
The first six extractions are included. Beyond that it is $900 each, counted from the CBCT before you travel — not discovered on the day.
One trip or two
One trip is faster and cheaper. Two trips end in final zirconia after four months of healing. Which one applies is a clinical answer, not a budget one, and the scan decides it.
What a cheap quote leaves out
Where the gap between an advertised price and a final invoice usually hides.

How to compare two quotes properly
Four questions that make two very different documents comparable.
Is it written?
A verbal estimate is not a price. Ask for it in USD, itemised, with a validity date on it.
What is the final material?
A quote ending in a temporary acrylic bridge and one ending in monolithic zirconia are not the same treatment, however similar the number looks.
What is excluded?
Ask specifically about extractions beyond the included count, extra implants, grafting and the second-stage restoration.
How long does it hold?
A price that can move before you travel is an estimate. Ours is locked for 12 months from the date it is issued.
What each treatment is for
The price list above tells you the number. This tells you which line applies to you.
One tooth missing — $1,600
A single implant with the crown included. It is the only line here that does not involve a bridge: one post, one abutment, one crown, and the neighbouring teeth are left untouched. That last part is the argument against a conventional bridge, which requires grinding down two healthy teeth to carry a third.
Several teeth gone, the rest sound — $900 per extra implant
If the remaining teeth are healthy there is no reason to remove them. Individual implants replace what is missing and nothing else. The per-unit price is what makes this predictable: you can count the gaps and do the arithmetic before you call anyone.
A whole arch failing — $9,000 per arch
When most teeth in one jaw are loose, decayed or already gone, replacing them one at a time costs more than replacing the arch. Four implants carry a fixed bridge. This is the line most patients travelling here end up on.
Both jaws — $14,990 or $19,800
Two arches in one surgical session share the sedation, the imaging and the theatre time, which is why they cost far less than two separate treatments. The difference between the two figures is the final material and the number of trips, not the number of implants.
Not enough bone — $4,500 per zygomatic unit
Severe upper resorption is the one case where the standard four-implant plan does not apply. Zygomatic implants anchor in the cheekbone instead of the jaw. It is quoted per unit and only when the scan shows it is unavoidable.
A budget that will not stretch — $3,000 per arch
A snap-on overdenture on two to four implants. It comes out for cleaning and it is not a fixed bridge, but it holds, it stops the rocking, and it stops most of the bone loss a conventional denture accelerates. It is the honest lower rung, not a lesser version of the same thing.
Why prices differ so much between clinics
Four structural reasons. None of them is the implant itself.
Where the lab is
An outsourced bridge carries a lab margin and a courier delay on every adjustment. An in-house mill removes both. It is the single largest difference in a full-arch quote after the surgeon's time.
Who operates
A general dentist placing occasional implants and a maxillofacial surgeon placing them daily are not priced the same, and should not be. Volume in one procedure is also the clearest predictor of outcome.
What is bundled
A headline price with sedation, imaging, extractions and the temporary bridge billed separately will always look lower than an all-inclusive one. Comparing them without itemising is comparing nothing.
Premises and marketing
A clinic with national advertising and a lease in a coastal metro recovers that in the quote. It buys convenience and brand recognition. It does not buy a different titanium post.
What the price does not tell you
Three questions worth more than the number itself.
What happens if an implant fails
Failure rates are low but not zero, anywhere. Ask what the clinic does when it happens: who pays for the replacement, and whether the warranty covers the implant only or also the bridge on top of it.
Who services it in year eight
A screw loosens, an abutment wears. If the system is documented and stocked worldwide, your dentist at home orders the part. If it is not, the only fix is removing an implant that was working.
How long the quote holds
